Global China: Circulatory Currents in History and Culture
Prasenjit Duara is the Oscar L. Tang Family Distinguished Professor of East Asian Studies at Duke University. His work provides a prime example of interdisciplinary scholarship that illuminates larger issues that affect human beings around the world. His writings generally urge readers to become aware of the historical, geographical, epistemological and political structures that both constrain and enable human action.
This two-day conference features panels of scholars from around the world whose research and teaching span multiple academic disciplines, all of whom have been inspired or informed by Professor Duara's own work. The conference is being organized by Haiyan Lee (Stanford) and Viren Murthy (University of Wisconsin—Madison), and its events are supported by APSI and the Department of History at Duke.
