APSI faculty among 31 new distinguished professors at Duke
Members of the APSI faculty are an outstanding group of interdisciplinary scholars who are experts in a wide range of subjects. Although it is never truly a surprise to learn of their academic achievements, we are always happy to learn of new honors they receive.
In 2025, Duke University awarded distinguished professorships to 31 faculty members, including two APSI faculty members, and will recognize all of them in a ceremony at the Washington Duke Inn on May 14. As the article announcing this achievement noted, distinguished professorships honor faculty who are well-established members of the Duke academic community and have also achieved distinction as creative scholars in their field or in their ability to transcend disciplines.
Shitong Qiao (School of Law) has been named the Ken Young-Gak Yun and Jinah Park Yun Distinguished Professor of Law.
Daniel Yi Xu (Department of Economics) has been named the Rubenstein Distinguished Professor of Economics.
These two distinguished faculty are among the key coordinators of the Interdisciplinary Research Forum on East Asian Law and Economics, a 2024–25 APSI research cluster which works to cultivate an inclusive, collaborative, and yet openminded interdisciplinary research network to help support faculty and students at Duke and beyond, who have an interest in or would benefit from research in East Asia law and policy with a strong focus on law and economics and related fields. It provides a safe, inclusive, open, and thought-provoking forum for sharing, discussing, and critiquing their research ideas, methodologies, data sources, and findings and providing timely feedback.
