APSI welcomes the Year of the Horse with students, scholars, and faculty

Around the world, the lunar new year is celebrated by more than 2 billion people annually. Traditionally, it is a time for gathering with family, and many use the opportunity to travel to their hometowns and celebrate with loved ones.

At Duke, since the holiday falls during a busy spring semester, we invited members of the APSI community to enjoy this festive time with their “found family,” including classmates, faculty, and fellow scholars.

On February 16, Lunar New Year's Eve, more than 30 attendees stopped by the John Hope Franklin Center to share the joy of the event, complete with dumplings (饺子 ; jiāo zi) and the company of their peers.

Revisit a few moments from the gathering in the photo slideshow, below.

We hope the year of the fire horse brings you positive energy, confidence, resilience, an adventurous spirit, and warm light to illuminate your thinking and the world.
