Each year, APSI helps Duke students from an array of academic backgrounds seeking to advance their skills to study topics in or related to East and Southeast Asia.
In summer 2024, Brandon Hays, a PhD student in ecology at the Nicholas School of the Environment, traveled to Thailand thanks to a scholarship grant from APSI. Hays was pursuing advanced language study as part of a long-term strategy to engage with ecological researchers and practitioners working in the country. Communication is an essential part of any academic endeavor, and APSI continues to enthusiastically support fundamental and foundational graduate as well as undergrad research in the region.
