Happy Early Halloween!

October 22, 2018

It's that spooky time of year again, as well as the time for our East Asian Studies MA students to unleash their artistic creativity.

On Saturday, October 20, the students were hosted by APSI's Director of Graduate Studies, Dr. Simon Partner, and his wife at their house. In a newly-founded APSI MA tradition, the students enjoyed a break after two months of intensive graduate-level work and got their hands dirty carving pumpkins. Their creations spanned from traditional jack-o'-lantern to cats (front and back), ghosts and aliens.

After sunset, the party moved indoors and the students enjoyed delicious Mediterranean food while socializing and networking with each other, alumni, the APSI staff, and several faculty members. When the near-full moon hung high in the sky, Dr. Partner led some of the students on an expedition into a nearby cemetery – a perfect conclusion to the Halloween experience.
