Professor Prasenjit Duara, Oscar Tang Chair of East Asian History at Duke University, has been elected vice-president of the Association of Asian Studies of America. Following his term as vice-president, he will take on the role of AAS president, speaking at regional conferences and the annual meeting in the U.S. as well as a conference in Japan. The AAS is the preeminent learned society in the U.S. focused on Asia and the study of Asia, spanning all Asian regions as well as every academic discipline. We wish Prof. Duara all the best in his tenure with this prestigious group.
