Haoyi (Holly) Wei

I’m Haoyi (Holly) Wei. I received my B.A. in History from Wuhan University. My academic interests lie in transnational history, international relations and material culture in modern China. My most recent research has a particular focus on the material and commercial exchanges with regard to the dissemination of cigars in China throughout the late Qing dynasty and twentieth century. 

A transformative moment in my academic journey was my exchange semester at Duke Kunshan University (DKU) in 2023, where I gained a cross-cultural perspective. This journey finally brought me to Duke. 

Apart from academics, I enjoy painting, skating, acting, Rock’n’Roll music and Japanese animation.
