Coordinator for East Asian Collection (EAC) Management
Luo Zhou is the Librarian for Chinese Studies & Coordinator for East Asian Collection (EAC) Management in the International and Area Studies Department of Duke University Libraries. She oversees and maintains the daily operation of East Asian Collection management, serves as the central liaison for the East Asian Collection with other DUL departments as well as professional libraries, coordinates the outreach activities involving the East Asian collection with faculty and students from departments and centers,; and serves as the central liaison for East Asian Collection for DUL at national associations like Ivy Plus and CEAL.
Luo’s work as a subject librarian includes research consultations, library instruction, collection building and web-based guides. She has many professional interests, including research methods, digitization, web collection and China’s publishing history. She is an active member of Duke’s Asian/Pacific Studies Institute.
Publications
Luo is currently leading "The Memory Project", an extensive collection of oral history on one of modern China's most traumatic episodes, the Great Famine of 1958-1962. She is the author of Catalogue of Chinese Ancient Books in Duke University Libraries. She is the co-curator of the traveling exhibit of Sidney Gamble Photographs in China 2013-2014, at Rubenstein Library in 2015. She also co-translated "China and the Allies" in 2014.
